Program SummaryCOSTAR is a community living residential program for individuals with co-occurring mental health and/or intellectual disability challenges. COSTAR individuals are often older, require slight medical attention or special care and live in two to three-person sites with staff support nearby. Because individuals are often older, participants do not “transition” or “graduate” to a lower level of care or independent living. Staff, including Program Coordinators, work with individuals to strive to reach their recovery goals and ingrate into the community. Staff utilize a strength-based, person-centered approach to encourage individuals to attend meaningful activities in the community at organizations that COSTAR has collaborated with. For example, local community centers often host evidence-based groups like the Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model (TREM), trauma recovery groups, or Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) workshops at local recovery centers. COSTAR’s goal is to address the special needs of the individual, build daily living skills, connect to behavioral health resources and wrap natural and formal supports around them to aid in recovery.RHD employees and programs in the City of Philadelphia are required to follow the COVID vaccine mandate.
