- Lead field execution of mechanical systems including chilled water plants, air handling units, CRAHs/CRACs, ductwork, hydronic piping, pumps, and BMS controls.
- Ensure systems are installed per design, meet operational performance criteria, and adhere to commissioning and startup standards.
- Collaborate with design engineers, trade partners, and client representatives to drive constructability and system integration.
- Develop mechanical installation strategies aligned with critical milestones and overall construction schedule.
- Manage subcontractor performance through daily coordination, lookahead scheduling, and logistics planning.
- Ensure timely delivery, handling, and installation of long-lead mechanical equipment and prefabricated systems.
- Oversee the review and coordination of submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and field changes for mechanical scope.
- Perform field inspections and QA/QC checks to ensure code compliance, alignment with specifications, and industry best practices.
- Support mechanical system commissioning activities and ensure readiness for functional and integrated testing.
- Serve as the primary site representative for all mechanical construction issues, decisions, and updates.
- Provide technical guidance to the client team and keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and mitigation efforts.
- Participate in project status meetings, design clarifications, and punch list resolution efforts.
- Promote and enforce safety procedures including confined space entry, elevated work platforms, and hot work protocols.
- Conduct mechanical safety reviews and ensure adherence to company and client-specific EHS standards.
- Identify mechanical scope-related risks and lead proactive issue resolution to maintain schedule and budget adherence.
- Mentor mechanical coordinators, field engineers, and junior superintendents.
- Foster collaboration between mechanical, electrical, and general trades to improve integration and system performance.
- Lead mechanical trade meetings and commissioning coordination sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of construction experience with at least 5 years focused on large-scale data centers, industrial projects or mission-critical mechanical systems.
- In-depth understanding of HVAC system design, hydronics, airflow systems, energy efficiency strategies, and high-reliability design.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, local building codes, and best practices for uptime and performance in Tier III/IV environments.
- Skilled in reading mechanical one-lines, P&IDs, piping layouts, coordination drawings, and system performance specs.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent.
- LEED AP, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or mechanical commissioning-related credentials.
- Experience with BMS systems, integration with electrical systems, and system-level redundancy strategies.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Bluebeam, Navisworks, or similar digital construction tools.
- Proactive leader with strong mechanical systems knowledge and an ability to drive collaboration and problem-solving in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communicator with a high level of professionalism in both client and field team interactions.
- Detail-oriented and hands-on, with a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
