What You’ve Accomplished
  • Completion of a BS in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years of directly related experience
  • An advanced degree may be substituted for related experience
  • Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data (meetings, email, presentations, customer deliverables, etc.)
  • Ability to develop networks and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Works collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong Advanced problem identification and problem resolution skills.

Your OpportunityThis full-time role is about making an impact on people’s lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As a Component Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Component Repair and Replacement Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit. While the majority of our work is in support of the existing operating fleet, the group is also actively involved supporting multiple new reactor concepts. Our current work scopes include detailed design of reactor internals, rigging and transport planning, and interference studies. The Component Engineer role is the key interface between the customer, our analysis team, fabricators, and our field installation craft. In this role an attention to detail and ability to balance competing requirements are keys for success. Your work will include:
  • Development of product specifications
  • Preparation of component design drawings
  • Issuing procurement documents
  • Oversight of component fabrication including interface with inspection teams
  • Preparation of field installation procedures
  • Support of field implementation activities
This position requires occasional travel to attend customer meetings, perform plant walkdowns, and to support installation activities. Infrequent international travel is possible.
