In this role, the Principal Aerodynamics Engineer will support various design activities through analysis and/or wind tunnel test validation. This engineer will work with both an established on-site Aerodynamics team and with a cross-functional team of mechanical, system, project, and manufacturing engineers across several Value Streams.This is an onsite position based in Burnsville, Minnesota.What you will do:
  • Work with the Aerodynamics team to support probe placement activities, icing critical points analyses, wind tunnel testing, field return investigations, and production quality concerns.
  • Support all phases of aerodynamic design from early inception through production.
  • Continue developing best-in-class analysis and/or test methodologies to support the Aerodynamics discipline.
  • Conduct meetings and present progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
  • Record and document delays, changes in scope, and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth execution.
  • Confidently provide clear, concise communications with peers and Collins leadership.
Qualifications you must have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems or sites.
  • Previous aerodynamics engineering experience is required.
Qualifications you must have:
  • Experience with supersonic aerodynamics – modeling or testing
  • Experience with numerical methods – CFD, FEA, or other
