- Be available via telephone 24/7/365 to receive requests for Army National Guard Honor Guard Funeral Honors support.
- Coordinate requests for Army National Guard Honor Guard support, verify eligibility, and assign appropriate honors ceremony providers IAW MFH Handbook.
- Record all MFH cases in the MFH database IAW the MFH Handbook.
- Coordinate with various individuals and entities (family of service members, Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs), funeral directors, state/military units, etc.) to conduct ARNG Honor Guard ceremonies IAW MFH Handbook.
- Attend, monitor and evaluate at least 5% of all Honor Guard performances each quarter and complete the evaluation report within 5 business days of the event evaluated. Evaluations will be maintained on-file for a period of three years within the state. Immediately report any concerns to the PM via email.
- Maintain accurate records related to the performance of veterans' organization honors teams into the MFH Database IAW the MFH Handbook.
- Coordinate the issuance of rifles for use during performance of funeral honors IAW the MFH Handbook. This will include coordination with VSOs, checking availability with base Arms Room/Armory and/or the Funeral Honors Arms rooms, making appointments for pickup/return of items. Contractor shall not handle or transport any of these items. Its role is strictly that of coordination and scheduling their use.
- Maintain all training records for soldiers/retirees and VSOs IAW the MFH Handbook and update existing training records IAW official training sessions using the Military Funeral Honors database IAW MFH Handbook.
- Track and maintain accurate records of certifications of MFH course using the MFH database IAW MFH Handbook.
- Update and maintain clothing and equipment records, safety driving certificates, and number of funerals in the Military Funeral Honors database IAW the MFH Handbook.
- Maintain the Plan of Instruction (POI) for the MFH course and National Honor Guard Soldier of the Year competition IAW MFH Handbook.
- Maintain equipment and training aids provided to them by the State for classroom instruction IAW MFH Handbook. These items shall include graveside mock-ups, honorable transfer mock-ups, and hearse and aircraft doorway mock-ups.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a strong sense of mission, focus, knowledge, and resourcefulness related to MFH
- Possess emotional maturity, tact, and attentive listening
- Ability to provide dignified verbal and written responses; articulate well in sensitive situations; build rapport with Families, Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs), and a variety of other stakeholders and resource groups involved in meeting the needs of each Family; understand verbal and nonverbal reactions, and exercise independent judgement
- Ability to use the ARNG MFH database and produce reports and data as required
- Enter information into MFH database timely and accurately
- Understand applicable Army, NGB, State NG, and IMCOM policies, regulations, guidance, SOPs, training, and resources
- Understand ARNG organization and structure and military culture
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Self-starter and good time management skills
- Ability to travel
- S. citizenship required
- Ability to pass extensive background investigation
- Knowledge of or experience with military funeral honors, information, assistance, outreach, referral, and follow-up services to Families and survivors from all service components
