- Provide strategic financial direction and support to ownership and senior leadership.
- Lead the development and execution of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Partner with department managers to identify opportunities to improve operational and financial performance.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and dealership-specific accounting practices (NADA guidelines).
- Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial reporting functions.
- Direct the annual budgeting process across all departments (sales, service, parts, F&I, self-insured medical plan, etc.).
- Analyze and report on financial performance against budget and benchmarks.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and capital expenditures.
- Manage, develop and maintain banking, independent CPA and insurance relationships.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax and financial regulations.
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with HR on compliance and audit readiness.
- Lead and develop the accounting/finance team, including Controllers, Office Managers and clerical staff.
- Drive a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and dealership operations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Dealertrack) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
