Department: Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine BiobankJob Title: Temporary Clinical Laboratory Technologist- Part-timeThis is a Temporary position limited to no more than 6-months.Job Summary:This Clinical Laboratory Technologist will be employed by the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver. The schedule will be based on business need and may include various workdays and start and end times per shift. The job duties will include a variety of laboratory functions, including but not limited to the following:Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory procedures including analysis of clinical and research samples by molecular biology methods
- Genetic testing of human samples in a clinical laboratory environment
- DNA quantification, and quality control assays
- Various molecular genetic and genomic assays including genotyping by microarray, Sanger sequencing, TaqMan genotyping, data analysis, assay result interpretation, and proper maintenance and management of laboratory records and instrumentation.
- General laboratory duties to include reagent lot validation, inventory management, laboratory maintenance projects, quality control, and quality assurance activities
- Knowledge of and ability to work in compliance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) certification and CAP (College of American Pathologists) accreditation in all laboratory duties
- Maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other mandated OIT (Office of Information Technology) regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological or Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution with 2 years professional experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Experience in Molecular Biology and a theoretical understanding of microarray assays, more specifically, the illumina Global Diversity Array (GDA) assay or illumina’s Infinium chemistry.
- Hands-on experience with automated pipetting systems, 96 well plate stampers, and electronic multichannel pipettes.
- Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and data entry.
- Troubleshooting of instrumentation in molecular laboratories.
- ASCP Certification
