Join our team as a Material Handler I, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient material operations. You will work closely with supervisors and Materials Specialists, contribute to compliance with regulatory guidelines, and continuously seek ways to improve operational workflows.Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment to keep materials operations running smoothly.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations such as GMP, GLP, DOT, HazMat, and health and safety guidelines
- Execute supervisors’ directives and prioritize daily tasks and customer requests
- Troubleshoot operational errors and monitor day-to-day operations
- Serve as a liaison between Materials Specialists and Supervisors
- Accept and inspect incoming materials; verify paperwork and material conditions
- Prepare and route receiving documents, hazardous materials manifests, and shipping documents
- Perform x-ray scanning and receive radioactive materials safely
- Apply asset tags and proper placards
- Handle, store, and ship materials following temperature and safety requirements
- Conduct campus pick-ups for outgoing shipments
- Follow and enforce GMP procedures; train others as needed
- Maintain accurate GMP documentation
- Adhere to safety protocols and participate in staff safety training
- Engage in safety and quality area surveys, 5S audits, LEAN, and Class A initiatives
- Provide routine updates to Supervisors on operational progress and issues
- Prioritize and distribute workload with minimal supervision
- Lead resolution of technical issues and participate in project initiatives
- Actively contribute to departmental goals and process improvements
- Engage in ongoing feedback with supervisors and colleagues
- Demonstrate professionalism in a diverse work environment
- Communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms
- Support and train contingent workers and cover for staff as needed
- Complete all tasks and back-up duties on time
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and requests
- Use material handling equipment and relevant computer applications proficiently
- Adapt to schedule changes, work overtime, and float between groups for operational support
- College-level coursework preferred
- Required: Experience in material handling and/or warehousing
- Preferred: Previous leadership experience
- Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills
- Problem-solving ability and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on safety, quality, accuracy, and detail
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling is an asset
- Valid California driver’s license required; HazMat endorsement preferred
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Forklift experience required
