We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist Programmer to join our client's manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, CAD/CAM software, blueprint reading, and process optimization to ensure efficient and accurate production.Key Responsibilities
- Develop CNC programs using CAD/CAM software for milling, turning, or multi-axis machining centers.
- Set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and offsets are in place.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to create accurate machining strategies.
- Perform test runs, inspect first articles, and adjust programs as needed to meet tolerances.
- Monitor machining operations to identify and resolve issues with tooling, speeds, feeds, or machine performance.
- Maintain high standards of precision, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and ensure safe operation of equipment.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, and production staff to improve processes and reduce cycle times.
- Document programs, setups, and tooling lists for repeat jobs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with safety protocols.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a CNC machinist, with at least 2 years in programming.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Edgecam, Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of G-code programming, machining processes, and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience with CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMMs, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with multi-axis (4/5-axis) CNC programming.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods.
- Knowledge of various materials, including metals and plastics.
- Knowledge of API and OSHA requirements.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, coolant, and moving machinery.
