- Provide overall technical leadership for RPS, following the Roush Product Development Process, ensuring that timely decisions are made to move product development programs, Roush, and its customers forward.
- Lead the coordination with customer engineering teams, ensuring that Roush and its customers remain on track to deliver the technical content on time, under budget with excellence.
- Partner with the RPS program management leader to ensure effective cross-functional coordination across the organization and with external partners for each product development program undertaken.
- Partner with the RPS program management leader to oversee the development of engine controls including management of the RPS engine controls partner.
- Direct the product development architecture/design (system, physical, data, communications, structure, survivability, thermal, controls, etc.). Includes approval of system architectures, and any changes, conditions, inputs and final resolution for requirements, trades, and alternatives.
- Lead technical requirements definition for products including all interface requirements with customer applications (ex., packaging, electrical, controls, transmissions, fuel systems, cooling systems, etc.).
- Direct application engineering efforts to ensure products are integrated into customer applications consistent with program objectives. Includes being the signatory on application sign-off with customers.
- Deliver the overall product technical design integrity, design compliance with all requirements, and that the product will function as an integrated system within its intended environment.
- Responsible for day-to-day product design and development engineering, system integration, product verification, and compliance with prevailing emissions regulations.
- Lead all design reviews – internally, with partners, and with customers.
- Lead the resolution of design and/or development conflicts.
- Responsible for technical risk management without compromising quality, cost or schedule.
- Oversee the use of design robustness tools such as DFMEAs and DVPs at the system, sub-system, and component level where appropriate.
- Responsibility for technical completeness and review of all Factory, Material and Field Problem Reports prior to closure.
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in engineering.
- Demonstrated experience managing technical staff including mentoring and conducting performance reviews.
- Demonstrated systems engineering experience including developing, documenting and managing project requirements.
- Proven experience in technical interface with customers.
- U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
- Analytical skills and ability to direct and consult on technical analyses.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices.
- Must possess strong leadership and management skills, ability to solve complex problems and be self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills; written, verbal, and presentation in the English language with the ability to lead team meetings, design review, etc.
- Master’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience leading calibration development of gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines for on-road commercial vehicles, mobile off-road, and stationary off-road applications.
- Demonstrated experience using advanced engine controls for spark-ignited engines.
- Proven experience with specification of aftertreatment systems for spark-ignited engines to meet more stringent emissions standards.
- Calibration experience for CNG and propane engines.
- Knowledge of best practices in documentation of software and software development.
- Understanding of business processes: creation, refinement, and gap analyses.
- Professional Engineering accreditation.
