GPN has a global and expanding footprint with a current in-market presence in 24 countries.Job/Project Summary: Be a key contributor to the GPN team as a Food Safety & Quality Intern in our Supplier Quality Team or in the Analytical Quality Lab.Learning Objectives:
  • Build practical Food Safety and material quality knowledge in an certified laboratory setting and/or in an office setting verifying processes, products, and systems against industry and regulatory standards to determine compliance.
  • Learn how to participate in and contribute to a safe production facility and laboratory environment.
  • Understand material attributes and impact on processing, finished products, and regulatory compliance.
  • Learn and complete the four phases of an audit from preparation, through final audit closure.
  • Build strong Food Safety & Quality fundamentals while being mentored by professional scientists.
  • Build collaboration and project management skills.

Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent): Job duties would include, but not be limited to:
  • Assist with risk analysis for materials and type of processing.
  • Collect, document, review, and transfer test results from external sources to internal documentation.
  • Learn and apply standards and principles of auditing and related techniques.
  • Perform data collection, trend quality metrics, and communicate results.
  • Analyze audit data to identify trends. Summarize in report with recommendations to management.
  • Draft, implement, and maintain SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, work groups, or continuous improvement teams as assigned.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and monitoring of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in OOS (Out of Specification) investigations and reporting.
  • (Lab) Daily logging of incoming raw materials into a database.
  • (Lab) Other functions include sample preparation for third-party lab testing and ensuring the safe storage of raw materials and chemicals.
  • (Lab)Assist chemist is preparation of lab glassware prior to analysis and ensuring the safe storage of chemical materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree majoring in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science field
  • 3rd year college student
  • Experience building and maintain relationships within a team.
  • Clear written communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Ability to follow through on tasks with minimum direction.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint

This range may not be applicable to other locations. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range.
