The department provides its service to more than 10 legal entities that are parts of our operation to deliver our mission.The Accounts Payable Clerk supports Avalon Housing by providing a wide range of accounts payable and cash management services as a part of the finance department. In addition to expertise in accounting and corporate finance, a candidate must possess strong technology skills, aptitude for learning and adapting to change, and a mindset to continuously learn better ways to deliver financial/accounting services in Avalon's fast and growing environment.In addition to a competitive salary, here are some of the key benefits that Avalon staff receive:Paid Time Off Paid time off includes three weeks of vacation time plus additional sick and personal time allowances.   • Enter invoices
  • Allocate expenses to the appropriate accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports
  • Research/retrieve invoices as requested
  • Organize all the invoices and checks in digital format
  • Set up and update vendor information
  • Process weekly and ad hoc payable run
  • Prepare weekly aging report and disbursement report (latter for RED)
  • Process EFT and online payments
  • Process various transfers between companies
  • Enter credit card receipts and pay monthly credit card balances
  • Process utility bills
  • Act as a point of contact between the company and its vendors, addressing any invoice discrepancies, and resolving any issues that may arise.
Cash Management
  • Make daily bank deposits
  • Post receipt entries to accounting software and property management software
  • Monthly bank reconciliation & daily cash balance update
Administrative/Other
  • Participate in other agency-required activities
  • Develop and update manuals
  • Dealing with queries from suppliers, clients, and the sales team.
  • Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:Education and Certification
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or finance or related discipline
Knowledge and Experience
  • At least 2+ years of bookkeeping or general ledger accounting experience
  • Wide knowledge of corporate accounting, including payables and cash management
  • Experience in both nonprofit and for-profit accounting
  • Ability to operate computers effectively (utilization of shortcuts, multiple monitors, and business communication software, etc.)
  • Intermediate level of MS Excel (Pivot Table, Index Match, Indirect, Array, PowerPivot)
