Whirks of Memphis, TN is looking to hire a full-time Tax Specialist - Payroll to join our growing team! The Tax Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll tax returns in a multistate, multicompany environment and will be the primary liaison for resolving all payroll tax notices with the appropriate agencies.We need your help to service a rapidly growing number of clients! We are seeking an energetic professional who enjoys developing long-lasting relationships with clients. As a part of our team, your payroll tax knowledge and problem-solving skills will help us deliver outstanding service to the small businesses we serve.   • Must be extremely tech-savvy; embrace, learn and troubleshoot new technology with ease!
  • 2+ years' experience in payroll processing and tax compliance is required.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based SaaS HCM platforms and tax reporting systems.
  • Must be detail-oriented & able to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Four-year degree in business, accounting or human resources preferred.
  • Ability and desire to take responsibility for your work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to approach challenges with an open mind, valuing feedback, and aren't afraid to ask questions or learn from others to improve the experience of the clients
  • Active listeners who communicate with kindness and empathy to create a positive and supportive experience in a client-focused environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Ensure Client and Firm Compliance with Payroll Tax Responsibilities - Regularly initiate payroll tax payments and filings by the correct due dates while researching and responding to all payroll tax notices for appropriate steps to find resolutions. This requires you to stay current on the latest payroll tax regulations across multiple states. If you are detail-oriented and have an aptitude to find solutions, then you will thrive in this role.
  • Maintain Accurate and Balanced Trust Accounts - Our payroll tax specialists are responsible for making sure all tax funds are appropriately collected from clients and paid in to agencies as required. This means that all payroll tax adjustments, regularly scheduled payrolls, and new client tax liabilities are being monitored on an ongoing basis so that 100% of funds are always accounted for appropriately. People that possess a strong attention to detail and strive to find solutions do well here!
  • Assist with Non-Tax Projects - From time to time, we will have special projects that arise out of normal business functions that will need to be completed. While this isn't a regular occurrence, our payroll tax specialist will assist with these projects as needed and as time is available.
