What you will need:
  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology or a related field.
  • Internship or previous experience in dealing with psychiatric patients.
  • Current CPR certification with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

JOB SUMMARYThe Mental Health Counselor provides patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and assists in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Functions
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the hospital.
Provides direct, individualized patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Maintains a safe and therapeutic milieu. Enhances own professional growth and development. Reads, discusses and evaluates current research. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing/hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrates cost containment in the position of patient care.Other FunctionsPerforms other duties as assigned.PATIENT CARE/AGE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Variable: adolescent, young adult, adult, older adult and geriatric needs are all assessed.
