- Work closely with State and Local Tax (“SALT”) leadership to help drive SALT growth both internally and externally, with a focus on sales/use tax compliance projects.
- Manage SALT sales/use tax compliance projects and risk mitigation with Sales Tax Outsourcing (“STO”) team.
- Assist with mapping/automation projects; registration and notice queries.
- Mentor associates and continue to assist with growing and training the SALT team.
- Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of sales and use tax return preparation and filing.
- Review draft returns and reconciliation reports prepared by staff, providing constructive feedback to support team development and technical growth.
- Support associates in troubleshooting and resolving issues encountered during the return preparation and filing process.
- Communicate with clients to gather required data and documentation for accurate and timely sales and use tax return preparation.
- Inform clients of potential sales and use tax exposure risks identified during return preparation and collaborate with the SALT team to develop and deliver appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Advise clients on upcoming changes in sales and use tax reporting requirements and taxability rules that may affect their operations.
- Assist clients with the implementation of sales and use tax software by understanding their business operations, configuring the software to meet their specific needs, and providing training on its use and ongoing maintenance.
- Serve as a leader to ensure all CLA risk management policies and procedures, including engagement set-up; client billing and collections; and document retention policies are followed and that the SALT staff are trained and aware of all policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- Eligible to sit for the CPA preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience required
