Description of WorkThis position with NCDOT offers full , competitive salaries and many career development opportunities.This is an anticipated vacancy.NC Salary Grade NC20-$67,852-$118,741Position will serve as the Senior Project Manager and will assist Division Staff in coordinating the planning and design of Division managed transportation projects. Responsible for tracking all aspects of each assigned project from conception to completion, including project feasibility, planning, public involvement, project design, right-of-way acquisition, environmental issues, budget and project letting to ensure timely delivery of projects and programs. Provide engineering and design guidance and supervision to Departmental engineering staff and private engineering firms. Serve as a liaison between these organizations and the Division. Independently develop reports, records and forms necessary for the success of the responsibilities of this position and utilize a project tracking and resource management system. Provide status reports of projects and funding sources to the Project Development Team Lead, Bridge Program Manager, Division Project Development Engineer, and the Division Engineer all on a regular basis. Perform field engineering investigations. Perform and/or oversee the development of feasibility studies, special studies, planning, and environmental studies, mitigation and permitting, and make recommendations for transportation projects, based on these studies.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesManagement prefers applicants with the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of civil engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in construction projects and proposal development
  • Experience maintaining effective working relationships with NCDOT staff, consultants, contractors, and public officials while managing conflicts and maintaining deadlines
  • Experience with project development concepts and construction processes, using these skills to identify, resolve issues and develop project scopes and proposals
  • Advanced experience with computer using SAP, MS Word, Excel, MS Project,.
  • Strong skill in organizing resources, planning, scheduling, and coordinating work in order to maintain schedules
