The new salary range on April 1, 2024 will be $3,218 -$4,338 monthly.What you will do:The primary role of this position is to provide essential administrative support to fish and wildlife employees within the Klamath Watershed District. Located in Klamath Falls, this role serves multiple offices and wildlife areas, contributing to the effective management and protection of fish, wildlife, and habitats. This position will undertake various clerical, customer service, purchasing, and general office support duties. Some of the duties will include:
  • Customer Service/Licensing:
  • Greet and assist the public in person and over the phone, addressing inquiries regarding licensing, regulations, and department programs.
  • Utilize Point of Sale electronic licensing system to issue various licenses and documents, collect fees, and maintain transaction records.
  • Provide information, direct inquiries, and maintain a supply of informational handouts.
  • Purchasing:
  • Act as the purchasing agent for the Klamath Watershed District, processing purchasing documents, invoices, and requisitions.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchasing transactions, track budgets, and coordinate with vendors and Accounts Payable as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with state purchasing procedures and manage office supplies inventory.
  • General Office Support:
  • Answer phones, screen calls, and route inquiries to appropriate staff members.
  • Compile statistics, prepare reports, and maintain efficient filing systems for both paper and electronic documents.
  • Manage incoming/outgoing mail, maintain office equipment, and perform miscellaneous clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Organize work efficiently, attend training sessions, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform office errands, manage conflicting priorities, and adapt to changing work demands.

  • Work is performed indoors in an office environment.

  • Some extended periods of standing may be required.
  • Must use terminal keyboard connected to mainframe.
  • Frequent public contact, sometimes with persons who are confused or contentious, both in person and by phone.
  • Frequent interruptions and changes in priority of work to be performed.
  • Use of a SPOTS Card for work-related purchases
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An associate degree in any field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requested Skills:
  • Working in a fast-paced office with multiple priorities
  • Using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Process invoices and related purchasing documents
  • Reviewing documents for authenticity and accuracy
  • Using a computerized point of sale machine and cash register
  • Sorting and shipping mail
  • Providing customer service
  • Experience and/or exposure working with fish and wildlife
