OverviewTRC is seeking a Sr. Visualization Analyst to join its Visualization Solutions Group. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 year(s) of using Autodesk 3DS Max visualization software for the development of highly accurate photo-simulations that are often reviewed by the public and state agencies.
Responsibilities
  • Able to independently perform task-specific work for preparing photo-simulations.
  • Ability to conduct site visits and perform fieldwork related to the acquisition of photos for use in photo-simulations.
  • The applicant would need to begin and proceed at a fast pace with little guidance or ramp-up time and have good working knowledge of lighting, materials, shaders, and advanced modeling features of 3DS Max, and familiarity with V-Ray rendering.
  • Able to be self-directed and communicate well with clients and other members of TRC.
  • Strong collaboration skills are important and will be required for successful engagement with TRC project teams and the Visualization Solutions Team.
  • Ability to facilitate quality review of deliverables to ensure consistency of product.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering plans, site plans, and sectional drawings to aid in the development of a 3D model.
  • Strong flexibility with prioritizing project assignments, leveraging resources, and completing tasks in a very dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to adapt and learn GIS skills.
  • Ability to leverage Adobe Creative Suite for figure production and photo compositing, as well as the utilization of artificial intelligence for generative compositing.
  • Understanding and adherence to all TRC policies and procedures and the standards and expectations of the Visualization Solutions Team.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
QualificationsExperience and Education
  • Minimum Associate’s degree or equivalent in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited school.
  • A minimum of 5 year(s) related work experience.
The successful candidate must:
  • Understand the workflow involved with simulation production.
  • Have excellent communication and organizational skills to work as a member of a larger visual team to complete project tasks.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and colleagues to ensure that quality and timely deliverables are provided on all projects.
  • Keep abreast of current technology and be responsible for discovering and implementing new technology while collaborating with other members of the visual team.
  • Be open to coordinating, scheduling, and delegating tasks to junior staff while performing other project related tasks.
  • Have a strong understanding of geospatial data sets and sources including LiDAR, GPS, and digital aerial photography.
  • Understanding of photography principles and practices especially as pertains to visual simulations.
  • Be responsible for developing accurate and properly scaled 3D models from engineering and technical drawings to produce photo-simulations. While it is anticipated that most of this work will be for renewable energy projects including solar, wind, transmission, substation, and battery storage projects, the successful candidate will also be able to leverage 3D tools and data to produce models and visualizations showing all manner of proposed project environments.

They should communicate clearly, concisely, and with candor.Required Technical CompetenciesAutoDesk 3DS Max: 5+ years of professional experience within the context of a multi-tasking, deadline driven, environment.Additional Software: Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Civil 3D, V-Ray.Specific Project Experience: Applicant should be prepared to provide a listing of project experience and portfolio of completed visual simulation work.Desired CompetenciesVisual Impact Assessment Knowledge: General understanding of the procedures associated with visual impact assessments and the importance of photosimulations in the overall workflow and narrative. The ideal candidate will also have familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory environments with an understanding of how these impact expectations and requirements associated with visual impact analyses and products.GIS Applications: Experience with, and understanding of, GIS files and formats. Ability to open and view GIS files in basic GIS applications.Travel and WorkplaceThis position is open to remote work.
