- Member of electrical engineering team developing cutting-edge high-power electronics and control systems for complex defensive laser systems.
- Develop high-performance solutions for extremely difficult design spaces - harsh EMC/EMI conditions, stresses from continued shock/vibration, extreme temperature ranges, high-humidity, high-altitude, salt-spray, and cosmic radiation to name a few.
- Design must also be exceptionally light weight and ultra compact to achieve demanding industry SWaP (Size Weight and Power) goals.
- Define electrical product requirements for Directed Energy team sold into Government agencies/DoD primes/foreign defense agencies.
- Conduct detailed electrical design reviews and electrically driven code reviews across cross-functional teams.
- Generate complete electrical design packages including detailed schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials and material requisition forms.
- Assemble design hardware, integrate into large laser system, and qualify through detailed bring-up/test plans.
- Research and understand application of international safety standards and MIL-STDs to hardware to ensure compliance.
- Utilize feedback from production, field service, and external customers to identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities.
- 5+ years' experience as an Electrical Engineer
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar discipline
- Experience with power electronics/switch mode power supplies, power systems/distribution, batteries, power conditioning
- Strong troubleshooting skills related to complex electro-optic systems
- Experience with schematic and layout tools (Altium Designer preferred)
- Effectively manage schedule and priorities with minimal daily direction
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with clear and professional written/oral communication skills
- LTSpice and SIMPLIS modeling for power electronic control loop optimization
- Experience designing RF PCBs
- Experience with complex FPGA-controlled multicomponent systems
- FPGA programming experience (VHDL preferred)
- Familiarity with conductive electronics cooling techniques
- Development experience with high-power laser and optical assemblies
- Experience managing other engineers and directing their day-to-day activities
- Experience qualifying systems to rigorous MIL-STDs
- Vendor management /procurement experience
- Electrical Engineer II: $80,000 - $105,000
- Senior Electrical Engineer: $95,000 - $125,000
- Target Cash Bonus of 5% of your wages
