Serves as a knowledge resource and uses judgment, with the supervision of SPIs, to help physicians plan optimum management of animal bite victims with potential rabies exposures. Using personal knowledge, references, and judgment, with the supervision of SPIs, and has the responsibility for evaluating the toxic hazards and initiating appropriate management of toxicological emergencies potential rabies exposures, and problems presented by the public. Interacts with government emergency resources (fire, police, medical) in organizing response to toxic emergencies. Reports all potential rabies exposures to Georgia State Department of Human Resources. Represents the hospital through contacts with the news media and through community health programs.QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or some college in a health professional track preferred
  • Training and experience within the medical health field as a pharmacist, nurse, or medical student required.
  • Knowledge of the toxicological applications of human physiology, chemistry pharmacology, action of drug, chemical and biologic toxins, information resources and their applications, pertinent toxicological literature, medical terminology, systems of emergency management of this region required.
