- Support the health, safety, and welfare of international participants and staff on the program.
- Exercise sound judgment on international programming, ensuring compliance with the National Security Strategy and program goals and objectives, as well as the Center’s mission and UM’s Priorities for Action.
- Advise international leaders, scholars, and students on requirements for maintaining lawful non-immigrant status on programs.
- Manage program budgets, including expenditures and reporting of grant funds.
- Supervise personnel, including assistant managers, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate students.
- Build and maintain effective daily communications with global participants and U.S.-based participants, as well as with program and community partners.
- Coordinate international and domestic travel logistics.
- Provide on-program support to participants, including emergencies or urgent issues outside of regular business hours and across time zones.
- Follow UM and federal procedures in all aspects of program management and implementation.
- Compile and submit program reports, complying with sponsor requirements.
- Ensure that programs are accurately represented and amplified on the Mansfield website, social media, and other outreach platforms, and work with the Communications Manager on strategy and content.
- Support grant proposal efforts with the Mansfield Center team.
- Represent the Center as the lead manager and overall responsibility for all cycles of the relevant program.
- Manage program alumni activities and alumni information.
- Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field related to the mission of the Mansfield Center (international relations, communications, education, etc.) or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Demonstrated independent judgment, discretion, professionalism, initiative, critical thinking skills, independent thought and action, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with program partners, including the U.S. Department of State, state and local government, University of Montana, Indigenous tribes and tribal members, subaward partners and with the public.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, including communication with domestic and international audiences.
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite and Zoom.
- Proven ability to succeed in a cross-cultural environment, both in the U.S. as well as overseas, including performing on a team with individuals from different backgrounds, cultures, and abilities.
- International experience, such as study, work, or extensive travel.
- Ability to handle a high volume of communications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and effective prioritization of tasks.
- Ability to be flexible and use sound judgment in unexpected situations.
- Ability to work independently, but also collaboratively.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate time zones and evening or weekend program activities.
- Master's degree in a field related to the mission of the Mansfield Center: international relations, public administration, communications, political science, etc.
- Experience working in international education.
- Working knowledge of federal guidelines as they relate to grant awards.
- Experience working with the U.S. Department of State.
- Experience working or living abroad in a region where the Center operates international exchanges.
- Partial or full fluency in a foreign language.
