- Reviews and monitors store audits and reports from third-party food safety auditors, pest control service providers, chemical providers, food safety training providers, and city, county, and state health inspections.
- Collaborates with store leadership to:
- Understand and analyze audit / report / inspection findings and identify areas for improvement,
- Establish and revise ongoing and proactive corrective action in response to identified issues,
- Implement food safety and related training and matrices.
- Develops a collaborative relationship with operational / store leadership, operational support teams, and third-party auditors to ensure an aligned and integrated approach to compliance, maintenance, and educational activities.
- Assists the operational areas with store openings, plan reviews, and regulatory permitting.
- Engages operational areas / stores with evaluation and implementation of technology that promotes food safety.
- Provides pest control support for assigned operational areas, stores, and facilities.
- Develops food safety analysis reports, newsletters, and presentation materials to regional/store leadership and Team Members.
- Liaises with regulatory agencies as required.
- Assists the operational areas with new initiatives that require food safety oversight by monitoring food safety performance, site visits, and corrective action completion.
- Engages with operations teams to implement science-based WFM food safety policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of FDA Food code, USDA requirements, state and local regulations, GRPs, SSOPs, HACCP requirements, and Organic Standards.
- Familiar with recipe and product development, contract language, and specification management.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage travel arrangements and expense reports.
- Listens to stakeholders and communicates through written and verbal methods.
- Presents information and responds to questions in one-on-one situations with internal and external customers.
- Tailors communication approach to specific situations and audiences.

- Understands the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.
- BA/BS degree and 2-4 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Food Safety Certifications – HACCP and Registered Sanitarian (RS), Certified Professional Food Safety (CPFS), or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS)
