- Develop and execute a strategic plan for research informatics that aligns with the center's overall research and clinical goals.
- Lead the research informatics team, setting clear objectives and measuring progress to ensure alignment with the center's mission.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of informatics systems and tools that support the research community, including clinical trials management systems, electronic health records, and data repositories.
- Ensure the interoperability of research systems with clinical and administrative systems to facilitate integrated care and research.
- Engage and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of research data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to research data, including HIPAA and IRB requirements.
- Act as a liaison between the research community, IT department, and external partners to ensure the research informatics needs are effectively met.
- Provide expert guidance and support to researchers in utilizing informatics tools and methodologies to enhance their research projects.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in research informatics and evaluate their applicability to the center's research objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration of new tools and techniques to advance research capabilities.
- Lead and mentor the research informatics team, promoting professional development and excellence.
- Manage resources and budgets effectively to support the strategic goals of the research informatics unit.
- Master's in Bioinformatics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- PhD is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in research informatics or a closely related field, with a strong preference for experience in an academic medical center or healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
- Deep knowledge of informatics systems and databases relevant to health science research.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with a strong understanding of research methodologies and statistical principles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking capabilities, with a proven track record of driving innovation and change.
