Daktronics most commonly uses D01.2 Structural Welding (Aluminum) code.For this position, Daktronics offer multiple shift options, as well as opportunities for Full or Part Time positions.In addition to CWI responsibilities, there are opportunities to work in other areas of Daktronics’ operations depending on skills, education, and experience. Opportunities may include roles such as Production, Engineering, Technician, Quality, or Process Improvement.Responsibilities
  • Inspect in process and completed builds to ensure all welds comply with:
  • American Welding Society (AWS) code compliant welding standards.
  • Documented Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Make recommendations for needed repairs or improvements based on results of inspection.
  • Review and provide feedback to welders on welding practices to ensure compliance with AWS standards.
  • Keep accurate records of inspected work for required quality control inspection reports.
  • Perform new hire welding certification tests for Daktronics welders as outlined in Daktronics Standard for Certified Welders (ED9057).
  • Perform welding tests for welding candidates during interview process.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required. Vocational training and/or Welding Technology diploma preferred.
  • Qualified as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society (AWS). If not currently qualified, Daktronics may assist in acquiring certification.
  • Achieve and maintain certification as outlined in Daktronics Standard for Certified Welders (ED9057).
  • Competent in both MIG (MetalInert Gas) and TIG (TungstenInert Gas) welding processes.
  • Understand and follow several different types of blueprints generated from both Auto Cad and ProE.
  • Become knowledgeable of company policies and procedures.
  • Accurately and timely perform tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good math skills. Above average spatial relationship skills.
  • Regularly and reliably work the scheduled hours. Ability to work overtime when workload requires.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include the following safety glasses, safety shoe/boots, hearing protection, electrostatic discharge wear, and others as determined necessary by Daktronics Risk and Safety Department.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy (up to 45 pounds) and or awkward items.
  • Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint, solvent, and solder.
  • Stand for the full shift with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2-3 ½ hours depending on work area.
  • Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms.
  • Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including some awkward reaching.
  • Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.
  • Identify wire and paint colors.
  • Read fine print.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
