Job Summary:The Refractory Technician performs masonry type work utilizing refractory materials while minimizing down time and promoting a safe work environment.Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment, free of harassment.
  • Ability to provide clear direction, exert situational leadership, motivating self and others, leading by example.
  • Strong ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve, using team-building skills in all efforts.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities
  • Demonstrated record of establishing and meeting or exceeding goals and objectives
  • Proven record of planning and scheduling maintenance functions in order to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve throughput utilizing lean manufacturing principles without negatively impacting production.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, develop, and evaluate Refractory technicians.
  • Enforce a high standard of expected maintenance workmanship at all times.
  • Coach and counsel employees on standard refractory practices and "best practices" for increased performance.
  • Coordinate and evaluate the training of new employees in their job requirements.
  • Monitor quality of refractory work to ensure job specifications are being met or exceeded
  • Work in conjunction with production and other departments to ensure maintenance schedule is met.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, college degree preferred
  • Associate Degree or Journeyman's card in industrial trade field preferred.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years experience utilizing leadership skills in a manufacturing maintenance environment in a supervisory capacity.
  • The ability to work overtime, weekends, and shift work as required
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong problem solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills
  • Aptitude for detailed work requiring a high degree of accuracy
  • Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important
  • Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment
