This position will support manufacturing automation equipment, including machine controls (PLC/DCS/HMI), SCADA, automation software, debugging, and testing, validating, and troubleshooting. This position will work closely with engineering, production, and maintenance staff to commission, troubleshoot, and maintain process control systems.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor, interpret and react to information provided by field instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Specify process control hardware and software, specifying field devices, and working to identify other required equipment for capital projects.
  • Coordinate with production to identify requirements for the program and developing the control strategy and then programming and testing process control logic (including Safety Instrumented Systems), creating engineering drawings and documentation, assisting with PSM compliance activities, and training operators.
  • Provide technical support required to actively participate in the review, re-design, and budgeting for upgrades of the current control systems.
  • Make recommendations on upgrades of existing electrical, controls and mechanical components and equipment as new technology dictates and identify strengths and weaknesses of current equipment.
  • Configuring/Programming controls associated with new automation to support capital projects and continuous improvement automation initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and process improvement suggestions regarding potential changes/upgrades to programming parameters.
  • Provide regular feedback to production management regarding such items as plant operator performance, schedule compliance, yield, first pass rates, etc.
  • Using SPC techniques review, analyze and report on such conditions as production versus production standards, up-time, mean time between failure and overall operating effectiveness.
  • Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required for this Position:Education: Associate degree or equivalent work experience.Experience: 5 years’ experience working with industrial controls systems (10+ preferred)
  • Design experience with PLC and DCS systems
  • Experience managing plant servers, clients, and other network devices
  • Experience with industrial ethernet/fiberoptic networks
  • Experience troubleshooting controls hardware
