Experience
  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program (Required)
  • Current LPN/LPN IV licensure Mississippi Board of Nursing (Required)
  • Certifications as required, based on area of work, such as BLS (Required)
  • LPN: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Patient Charting/Medical Record Documentation: 1 year (Preferred)
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Associates Degree (Preferred)
Schedule:
  • Two 12-hour shift and two 8-hour shifts per week; includes weekends.

Position Summary:Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient and family centered care in the assigned nursing unit. Roles during this phase of care focus on assessing the patient and developing a plan of care designed to meet the physical, psychological, educational and sociocultural needs of the patient and family. The incumbent must be flexible in regard to scheduled work hours and unit/work location as the schedule permits.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participates in plan of care that is individualized for the patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs appropriate treatments; within the scope of the LPN/ LPN IV cert as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Reviews, documents and carries out all orders and patient/family education in a timely manner.
  • Participates in admission, discharge and transfer process within the LPN/LPN IV scope of practice..
  • Delivers care with appropriate age and cultural competence to specific patient populations.
  • Provides individualized patient/family education customized to the patient and his/her family.
  • Timely reporting and documentation of unexpected or adverse events.
  • Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and facility staff
  • Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
  • Maintains current competency in nursing specialty by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Administer and document treatments
  • Dispense medications following policies and procedures and complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with healthcare procedures and regulations
  • Adheres to infection-control protocols
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Monitor and coordinate maintenance of equipment operation and inventory
  • Check and maintain nursing supplies inventory
  • Educate and instruct patients and family members on discharge instructions and home care needs
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and teaching to other staff as required
  • Adapts and supports change in a positive and professional manner. Cooperates with peers and supports group decisions.
