Employment Opportunity:Friends School of Baltimore has an opening for an Upper School Art Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year, starting in mid-August 2024. The instructor for the position may teach Sculpture, ATMD (Art, Technology, Media and Design), Adaptive Design, or other courses based on individual expertise and passion. Of special interest are teachers who have experience in fabrication, making, industrial design, wood/metal working as well as other new media. We place special emphasis on candidates who are practicing artists. In addition, candidates who have experience using technology and coding in their teaching, collaborating with colleagues, and using a diversity of assessment techniques are well-suited to this role. All classes take place in the Upper School Maker Space, so experience maintaining and teaching safe practices for power tools, 3D printers, and other technology is required.Responsibilities:
  • Teach in a manner that honors Quaker values and the Teaching and Learning Paradigm of Friends School.
  • Attend All-School Professional Days, Department meetings, and Upper School faculty meetings.
  • Collaborate with teachers in their Department, within the division, and cross-divisionally.
  • Provide parents and administrators with written and oral reports that explain in detail how a child is progressing in the various areas of that student's educational experience.
  • Complete timely, detailed, and prescriptive progress reports, grades, and comments at regular intervals during the year for each student taught.
