- Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log (safety and health deficiency tracking system/log) which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily quality control report.
- Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports. Report mishaps and near misses.
- Use and maintain the OSHA Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors, and make available to the Contracting Officer upon request. Post and maintain the Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board.
- Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
- Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory inspection meeting, and periodic in-progress meetings.
- Review and develop the APP and AHAs for compliance with the EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement, and enforce them.
- Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
- Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings.
- Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.
- Valid first Aid/CPR
- OSHA 30 + EM 385-1-1 Awareness (or 40hr EM 385-1-1)
- 24hr Fall Protection Competent Person (CP)
- 16hr Scaffolding CP
- 2hr Confined Space CP
- Trenching CP
- Degree in Occupational Safety or hold designation of Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- 5 years of continuous construction or general industry in a supervising/managing role (3 yrs. With current ANSI approved Safety Cert. i.e. CSHT, ASP, CSP etc.)
- 2-3 Years experience in field providing safety duties as Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) or Construction Safety and Health Technician (CHST)
- Documented 5-10 years full-time safety experience (100% safe work). List of projects and descriptions of duties where person was full time safety professional.
