  • Summer Session: Monday - Friday at 9 AM to 5 PM.
  • Fall & Spring Semester: There are two types of shifts and the schedule will be worked out with the rest of the team:
  • Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday
  • 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 1 PM to 9 PM
OVERVIEW: The Systems Administrator - Production Studios will provide daily systems support to the SVA BFA Animation department as outlined below, with emphasis on production studios and content creation for promotional materials.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for configuration, administration, and maintenance of computer labs, servers, network, hardware, software, and peripherals that support the overall curriculum and operations while ensuring availability of services and data protection
  • Work closely with the Technology team to ensure consistent daily technology operations by enforcing safety policies and procedures and providing support to all students, faculty, staff, and guest speakers
  • Manage and maintain equipment in all facilities and provide support in inventory and repairs when needed by working with the Coordinator
  • Supervise and train Lab Assistants to help with tech maintenance, short-term projects, and other tasks as assigned
  • Maintain an awareness of the annual technology budget for the department, and assist in planning to stay current with the technology trends by providing recommendations
  • Conduct hands-on technology-related workshops and information sessions
  • Produce content including showcases, screeners, demo reels, promotional videos, and various departmental projects
  • Provide technology and audio/video assistance for all departmental events and special programs
  • Maintain regular communication with the administrative team, and be able to pivot to the needs of the department including those based on an evolving curriculum, as well as events, and other special programs.
  • May be required to attend animation-related conferences, events, and festivals
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years in system administration or animation-related field
  • Expert knowledge of Mac OS systems & working knowledge of JAMF or equivalent device management system, scripting and automating tasks
  • Server management fundamentals including installation, RAID setup, storage management, and monitoring
  • Knowledge of HTML, render farms, audio/video production pipeline
  • Must be a team player with strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to identify issues, be proactive in driving solutions, and execute assigned projects on time
  • Some work experience in an academic environment is preferred.
  • Being detail-oriented and punctual is a must. Experience working within an office setting, and handling multiple ongoing administrative tasks
  • Familiarity with 2D & stop-motion animation software and workflows is a plus
  • Familiarity with 3D printing is a plus
