Building Maintenance Specialist, Hospital Facilities - 1st Shift

- High school graduation, GED, or vocational school.
- Four (4) years skilled or journeyman level work experience (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, welding, industrial maintenance, carpentry, and/or painting), including at least two (2) years’ experience in each of two trades or crafts.
- Performs plumbing, electrical, welding, mechanical, housekeeping, carpentry, and painting repairs according to service requests for specifically assigned specialties.
- Inspects plumbing, electrical, mechanical housekeeping, etc. in assigned buildings as scheduled by work order from Management.
- Maintains records and documents of work completed.
- Installs new equipment as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work requires ability to utilize specialized equipment and tools commonly used in laboratory and Animal Resource facility, such as cage washers, automatic water systems, autoclaves, etc. in addition to vibrator analyzer, infrared, detector, oscilloscope, etc. Work requires skill in the use of welding torches and carpentry tools.
- Work requires proficiency in all phases of duties performed.
- Work requires alertness and careful attention to avoid serious injury to self and others.
- Work requires wearing gloves, masks, respirators, hearing protection, face shields, eye protection, and protective clothing.
- Work requires walking, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., pulling/pushing equipment up to 50 lbs.
