- Administers the claim and case management of Workers’ Compensation and Auto liability claims as outlined in the Occupational Injury and Illness Management Program.
- Coordinates with management team members subsidiary and site-specific Safety Managers, Brokerage and Insurance Company’s representatives, Health Care Providers and Vendors to collect, review, and provide documentation and information for claims.
- Prepare, through the Risk Management Information System, loss submissions to ensure the proper handling of claims.
- Corresponds with supervisor, injured employee, claims adjusters, nurse case managers, health care providers, and Human Resources about the status of the claim.
- Is the internal claims resource to support all Workers’ Compensation and Auto company claims.
- Manages the OSHA Recordkeeping requirements and provides monthly reports to Senior Management on the trending of recordable incidents.
- Develops training on OSHA Recordkeeping requirements.
- Develops or assists with the development of Corporate SHEP training, presentations.
- Administers and edits distribution lists for Flash, Incident and Hazard Recognition Reporting process.
- Assists in tracking assets that are insured under the Ahtna insurance program.
- Audits and reconciles assets prior to submission to the brokerage for insurance coverage.
- Reports all claims other than workers ‘compensation and automobile related to Ahtna’s brokerage.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with claimants, employees, medical providers, all Insurance Carriers and Outside Defense Counsel.
- Prepare regularly claim status / analytical reports and facilitate communication with Senior Managers and other stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and advisory skills.
- Willing to travel to remote locations within Alaska occasionally (day trips).
- Must be able to interface with employees at all levels of the organization.
- One (1) to Three (3) years of relevant working experience, specialized training and/or a degree may be substituted for work experience
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of relevant working experience, specialized training and/or a degree may be substituted for work experience
- Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant working experience, specialized training and/or a degree may be substituted for work experience
- Certification or higher in Risk, Insurance, Claims or can obtain one within one year of employment.
- Completion of a certification in Occupational Safety and Health or closely related field or can obtain degree within one year of employment.
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to work individually as well as a team member. Ability to analyze information, formulate decisions/recommendations and bring closure to issues.
