Job Description:DescriptionThe Nursing Administrator is a registered professional nurse with progressive administrative experience. This person will support Nurse Managers, Associate Nursing Directors, and Senior Nursing Leadership in the management of clinical units/specialty areas, fulfilling responsibilities for hospital and patient care services on assigned shifts.Mount Sinai Queens is hiring a full-time, Nursing Administrator (House Supervisor) for a split shift both evenings and nights as follows: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm (flexibility to work Nights from 11 pm - 7 am is preferred) with rotating weekends 7 am or 7 pm, and holidays.
ResponsibilitiesThe Nursing Administrator is a registered professional nurse with progressive administrative experience who supports Clinical Nurse Managers and Clinical Directors of clinical unit groups/specialty areas to fulfill responsibilities for the overall management of the hospital and patient care services on assigned shifts.1. Assists clinical nurses to solve patient care problems and to develop patient management and leadership skills.2. Oversees patient care delivery, throughput, staffing, and processes to ensure efficient and effective operations during assigned shifts.3. Supports, implements and interprets the philosophy, objectives, policies, and standards for nursing care of patients and families.4. Investigate patient complaints and applies appropriate interventions as necessary. Refers to follow-up solutions to the clinical nurse manager or another appropriate person.5. Assists nursing personnel to establish and implement safety standards and to monitor the environment for hazards. Assists nursing staff with needle-stick injury follow-up as per Blood and Body Fluids Exposure policy (Infection Control policy).6. Evaluate nursing staff performance and mentors, coaches, counsels, and discipline staff as needed.7. Responds to various hospital emergencies and escalates to appropriate leadership, including acting as incident commander during evening/night shifts and weekends/ holidays
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing required; Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field or be enrolled in a program preferred
  • Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State
  • 3-5 years minimum clinical nursing experience with some Charge Nurse/supervisory experience preferred. Must have relevant clinical competence in the area of nursing practice assigned
Compensation StatementThe Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $150,000.00 - $155,488.79 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital needs.
