Lead Mechanical EngineerSalary: $110,000 - $150,000 annual based on experience (top of the range requires strong plastics extrusion/systems equipment experience and this is a hands-on role)The position can be housed out of a number of locations across the country near a major airport and a commutable distance from a plant; Columbus, Ohio would be excellent. Relocation assistance is available. Sponsorship for immigration cases is unavailable. Must be able to meet travel requirement of up to 70% to company plants, primarily located in USA, and Canada.Summary:The Engineering Lead is responsible for successfully implementing/supporting/managing various manufacturing platforms used for production in domestic and international locations. The Engineering Lead acts as the team lead for implementing projects.Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Successfully coordinate and schedule team members who are supporting various equipment projects, facility projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in emergency troubleshooting to expedite the plant's return to production.
  • Lead sourcing and installation of critical plant support equipment (chillers, compressors, towers, vacuum pumps, grinders, and electrical infrastructure).
  • Provide leadership support for equipment installations.
  • Participate and lead in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) problem solving and Continuous Improvement Kaizen events.
  • Work with the plant teams to predict, plan, and execute field rebuilds of worn equipment.
  • Define and execute plant support projects to satisfy internal customers (Plant Managers).
Job Skills
  • Plastic extrusion or injection mold experience.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude.
  • Work autonomously and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze risks and develop mitigation reports.
  • Familiarity with lean processes and continuous improvement tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Preferred
  • 2-4 years Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plastics acceptable with experience.
  • Equivalent experience
  • Multilingual (preferred)
Preferred Experience:
  • Read and write fluently in English and Spanish, as needed
  • At least five years in a manufacturing environment
  • In addition to strong mechanical knowledge and experience, electrical or mechatronics is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work within the plant climate conditions
  • Position requires a full range of body motion - including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, and the ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicle
  • Work safely in and around plant equipment
  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in temperature extremes
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours
  • Meet travel requirement of up to 60%-70% to company plants, primarily located in USA, and Canada.
