- Perform Tig pipe welding and other related manufacturing activities with minimal instruction and supervision
- Layout, assemble and weld according to drawings, work instructions, and weld procedures.
- Ability to judge the type and gauge of steel to be welded, and make proper adjustments as required by welding procedures.
- Position welded metal parts on fixtures; attached jigs & clamps as needed to hold metal parts in proper position for welding.
- Perform complete welding and finishing operations for unit repair.
- Train and instruct other welders.
- Use various handling devices in conjunction with welding tasks.
- Accurately maintain required documentation.
- Utilize visual examination.
- Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, participate in safety program and department meetings.
- Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
- Previous experience performing Tig Pipe Welding or Pipe Fitting experience is required
- Ability to comprehend complex blueprints and weld symbols.
- Experience with air-arc gouging and operation of plasma cutting machines.
- Ability to accurately measure using devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
- Successful ability to pass certification tests.
- Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation.
- Possible exposure to chemical odors and temperature extremes.
- Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.) with assistance
- Frequent pushing, pulling, and handling of materials as well as repetitive hand movements during welding.
- Technical welding diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Print reading course including welding symbols.
