Job DescriptionAbout the Role:The Software IPT Lead is responsible for planning, budgeting, executing and progress reporting for a team of SW developers dedicated to a large program. The SW IPT ensures the integrity of engineering process and timely delivery of software engineering work products. The SW IPT will have budget and schedule responsibility for the SW work scope. Main interfaces for this role are program management, other IPT leads, Engineering leadership, SW and System Engineering teams, and Chief Engineer of the program. Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role:As a SW IPT Lead, you will:
  • Oversee the planning and execution of software features
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI planning, Sprint planning, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives, PI reviews) to ensure the team is planning deliverables to meet the customers needs
  • Identify and mitigate execution risks to software development
  • Determine the staffing needed to develop software and work with functional managers to adjust staffing within multiple scrum teams
  • Serve as a technical interface with the customer
  • Collect, manage, and report program metrics
  • Monitor dashboards and metrics for proactive issue management
  • Coordinate between the System Architect, Chief Engineer, Systems Engineering Integration & Test Lead, program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline
  • Manage the budget for the software engineering team
  • Align measurement objectives and activities to meet program performance goals and objectives
  • Build the test infrastructure to ensure quality SW delivery within GD and to external customer
  • CAD modeling capability for generating feasible design concepts
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Sought:
  • Bachelors degree with at least 10 years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience
  • Experience measuring software development progress against baseline estimates
  • Experience directing multiple, large development teams
  • Experience in software development, integration, and test
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Well versed with SAFe/Agile processes
  • Ability to work on-site for majority of duties
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Experience managing an Agile software backlog
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience developing cost and schedule estimates for software development for military programs
  • Experience with MIL STD 882E, ISO 26262 or equivalent standards for Safety Critical Software development
  • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering development tools and processes
Additional Information / Desired Experience
  • This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
  • Able to work overtime when required
  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required works well in team and individually.
