Work Location: In personJob Description: A trauma therapist conducts trauma education groups, basic intakes, comprehensive intakes (biopsychosocial assessments), and trauma assessments in a recovery unit (Recovery in a Secure Environment), and transition planning (clinical case management) in Denver County Jail. The therapist is knowledgeable in trauma recovery and the many avenues of healing from trauma and substance use disorder. The therapist utilizes participant-centered, trauma-informed, harm reduction, and strengths-based approaches to empower men incarcerated in Denver County Jail to seek liberation and reduce recidivism.RISE Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible for:
  • Understanding and implementing the RISE Scope of Work and completing all required documentation in alignment with the contract requirements
  • Facilitating and co-facilitating groups addressing trauma and substance use disorder with men incarcerated in Denver County Jail
  • Creating participant-driven treatment and transition plans in efforts to reduce recidivism and follow potential supervision requirements post-release
  • Providing brief therapy, care management, and transition planning services for men incarcerated in the Denver County Jail
  • Administering informed consent forms, disclosure statements, and assessments
  • Entering data in compliance with JBBS and OBH standards
  • Identifying and connecting participants with appropriate referrals to community mental health and supportive services providers
  • Understanding and implementing culturally responsive, gender-responsive, and trauma-informed care
Other Responsibilities Include:
  • Attending all required meetings
  • Obtaining all necessary and required supervision and training
  • Maintaining Self-Care
  • Other duties as assigned
  • This position is located full-time in the Jail environment.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to provide proof of current DORA licensure (LAC, LPC, LCSW, CAC III)
  • A master's level degree is required.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance
  • Working understanding of harm reduction theory and trauma-informed services
  • Working understanding of assessments to include LSI
  • Experience working with a diverse population with behavioral health needs is required
  • Spanish speaking is preferred
