West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Hybrid Senior Training and Development SpecialistAbout the OpportunityThe Senior Training and Development Specialist is responsible for creating, developing, and conducting training and development programs for the University system. This position is expected to work the hours needed to meet professional responsibilities.What you'll do:· Works in collaboration with the Manager to assess training and development needs through surveys, focus groups and evaluations. The Specialist also meets regularly with ER Specialist, HR Business Partners, and other members of the campus community to identify training and development needs.· Develops training content and delivers on the programs to a variety of audiences either virtually or in person. Owns specific training and development programs, such as Emerging Leaders, New Employee Orientation or Supervisors Essential.· Builds out a leadership tool kit to increase accountability and the university’s leadership capabilities. Builds criteria for an emerging leaders’ program and framework and works with leadership to implement program.· Designs organizational development and talent planning as needed for the university. Works closely with the HR Business Partner to determine skills gaps in departments across campus.· Designs surveys, facilitates focus groups and analyzes data to ensure training needs are being met.· Leads bi-annually launch of Culture Survey, which includes, communication plans, training and preparing leaders for the Culture Survey launch. Trains the HR Business Partners on ensuring accountability from their leaders on a plan of action. Builds a consumable, high level deck regarding the overall results for the university to provide to the AVP, Talent and Culture.· Other duties as assigned by Director, Employee Relations.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor’s degree required in organizational development/leadership, human resources, or related field.Experience:3 years of experience in training and leadership developmentKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of curriculum and instructional design and application for effective adult learning.Thorough knowledge of developing organizational effectiveness and leadership development programs.Organizational and intrapersonal skills with acute attention to detail.Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate cross functionally.Ability to learn the University’s organizational structure, strategic plan, priorities, mission, and vision.Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.Ability to effectively plan, organize, develop, and implement comprehensive employee development programs.
