- Participate in the inspection of general funds and capital improvement projects to assure compliance with specifications, standards, regulations, and safety conditions. Inspections include: pavements, sidewalks, channels, lakes, irrigation distribution/transmission mains and pumps, wastewater collection systems, tunnels, and other engineered facilities on public property in public rights of way and easements.
- Review project plans and specifications for completeness, accuracy and compliance with city standards and specifications; recommend changes and improvements as appropriate.
- Understand and interpret engineering plans and specifications associated with civil engineering projects.
- Maintain detailed records and information to include daily inspector's reports and digital photographic records of work.
- Make field measurements and calculations as necessary. Report work not in accordance with specifications and recommends work stoppage for non-compliance.
- Prepare inspection checklists, interim and final punch lists, conduct final walk-through and verify project completion including close out documents and warranty items.
- Coordinate materials testing, and review reports for conformance with specifications. Simultaneously handle multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity under pressure of deadlines. Issue notices of non-compliance, stop notices, and field orders, as required.

- Government Standards and Specifications and other applicable regulations and standards related to construction inspection.
- Methods, procedures, and materials used in construction.
- Proper public works inspection methods and practices.
- SWPPP compliance procedures and reporting protocols
- Basic math as applied to construction inspection.
- Record-keeping techniques.
- Daily inspection reporting.
- Plan and organize work.
- Inspect construction projects for quality control/quality assurance and compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and regulations.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Perform required engineering computations.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control preferred.
- 2 years experience in construction inspection or 2 years experience in property maintenance or management.
